“There are a few perks in this job but one of my favourites is going to a café or restaurant to sample the menu.

So when I was asked to spend time at Haute Dolci – Level 3 at St James Quarter – I leapt at it. Not because I had never eaten there before but because it’s my favourite place to go and any excuse quite frankly.

Haute Dolci is elegant, spotlessly clean and a wonderful bright, calm place with views out to Princes Street to have a delicious coffee or something from their delightful menu. Whether it’s brunch, a light sandwich or dessert heaven, the staff led by Manager Habeeb will ensure you have impeccable service.

My choice this visit was a delicious mocktail – Strawberry Delight – a refreshing tall glass of blended fresh strawberries, lime, mint, chilled lemonade and ice. From the Sandos options, I went for a Marvelous Melt and I had to try one of their desserts. After taking an inordinately long time to choose between Pancakes, crepes, French Toast, Cheesecakes, Croffles or Sundaes, I went for ‘The Must’ from the Waffles menu. Now, I asked for a slightly smaller portion because I hate waste and I was quite full. However, I wish I hadn’t because the dessert was so light and delicious, I would have easily finished the full portion. Lesson learned.
